Botox injections are nowadays popular as a 'quick fix' solution to younger looking skin. Its cosmetic applications have advanced significantly over the last few years, with more and more people now looking to undergo botox injections with the hope of getting rid of fine lines and wrinkles. What was once probably thought to be a procedure whose novelty might wear off one day is nowadays considered to be one that is here to stay.

You may have read about it in the news or even seen it on television - more and more celebrities are now using botox injections to maintain their young looks and skin. A lot of people are wondering why this has become so increasingly mainstream in recent years.

Well, the answer is simple really. Botox is a cheap and effective solution to ageing skin. The entire procedure only takes a few minutes, is cheap and does not produce any scarring that may be associated with plastic surgery. More and more people have realized this now, thanks to all the publicity botox treatments receive through celebrity use.

What about Botox for Men?

Many people think that botox is only something that women are interested in, but this is not true. This is far from the truth. Even though the procedure is more often performed on women, men are getting botox treatments more often nowadays. There are those in the media who have coined the term 'bro-tox'. Some clinics now report that up to 50% of their patients undergoing botox are male!

Changing trends

Botox is becoming more popular all the time. In one year, 2010 to 2011, it went up from 5.4 million, to 5.7 million botox patients, so it went up 5% in that year alone. Newer estimates suggest an annual rise of around 10% every year. This rising trend should come as no surprise. In the past, the general attitude toward botox treatments were negative, but as time goes on, it's no longer just the super wealthy that can afford them, and regular people are much more accepting of the procedure. It has now become a well recognized and widely accepted surgical procedure.

That is only part of the story. Not only are botox treatments used to help those who have cosmetic issues, they are used for muscle spasticity disorders as well. Spastic paraparesis and cerebral palsy for adults and children, and blepharospasm are included in the other treatments that botox can be helpful for. The benefits are looking good and the results are more than satisfactory. Botox injections can be used to treat excessive sweating, and some have found success in using scalp injections to help to treat migraine headaches.

It's plain to see that botox is only gaining in popularity. There are always new studies being done and improvements being made, and the benefits of these treatments seem to be growing in number all the time.
